After recompiling mplayer (new version, different USE flags) it started to exit in the middle of file with error messages similar to this:

It hasn't happened before. May be I forgot to include support for something important in USE flags? Because old binary played same files just fine. I am forced to use vlc now, but prefer mplayer because used it for a long time and accustomed to it. There are the USE flags I used for building currently installed (problematic) mplayer:
Code: |
[ebuild R ] media-video/mplayer-1.1-r1 USE="3dnow 3dnowext X a52 alsa bindist* cdio dts dv dvd dvdnav enca encode faad iconv ipv6 jpeg* libass live mmx mmxext mp3 network opengl osdmenu quicktime rar real rtc rtmp shm speex sse sse2 theora toolame tremor truetype twolame unicode v4l vorbis x264 xscreensaver xv xvid -aalib (-altivec) (-aqua) -bidi -bl -bluray -bs2b -cddb -cdparanoia -cpudetection -debug -dga -directfb -doc -dvb -dxr3 -faac -fbcon -ftp -ggi -gif -gsm -jack -joystick -jpeg2k -ladspa -libcaca -libmpeg2 -lirc -lzo -mad -md5sum -mng -nas -nut -openal -oss -png -pnm -pulseaudio -pvr -radio -samba -sdl -ssse3 -tga -vdpau (-vidix) -xanim -xinerama -xvmc -zoran" VIDEO_CARDS="-mga -s3virge -tdfx" 0 kB

oi ckid113,
I am not an expert, but I remember similar output when I was installing mplayer, and in deed, after playing with USE flags I did get to playback videos/movies... so here are my USE, if it would help you:
Code: | [I] media-video/mplayer
Installed versions: 1.1-r1(11:24:41 PM 01/17/2013)(X a52 alsa bindist cdio dts dv dvd dvdnav enca encode faad gif iconv ipv6 jpeg kernel_linux libass live mad mmx mng mp3 network opengl osdmenu png quicktime rar real rtc sdl shm speex sse sse2 theora toolame tremor truetype twolame unicode vorbis x264 xscreensaver xv xvid -3dnow -3dnowext -aalib -altivec -aqua -bidi -bl -bluray -bs2b -cddb -cdparanoia -cpudetection -debug -dga -directfb -doc -dvb -dxr3 -faac -fbcon -ftp -ggi -gsm -jack -joystick -jpeg2k -ladspa -libcaca -libmpeg2 -lirc -lzo -md5sum -mmxext -nas -nut -openal -oss -pnm -pulseaudio -pvr -radio -rtmp -samba -ssse3 -tga -v4l -vdpau -video_cards_mga -video_cards_s3virge -video_cards_tdfx -vidix -win32codecs -xanim -xinerama -xvmc -zoran)

Description: Media Player for Linux |
I do make my own movies, capturing from camera and than editing in cinelerra, but that also brings a new set of un-playable-back formats, since I mess up codecs, which also makes mplayer exit in similar output... _________________ Kind regards, Goran Mitic
