Ultra 2 parallel port

I have been trying to hang a parallel port printer off my beloved Ultra 2. I believe this box should use the parport_sunbpp module (older sun-style bi-directional parallel port) and actually see and hear the printer go into it's reset routine when I load the module. Problem is I cannot seem to coax any print job to the printer.

Has anyone had success using a parallel port printer from an Ultra 2?
