PostPosted: Sat May 18, 2013 1:54 am    Post subject: [solved]libxml2 slot conflict with chromium and qtwebkit Reply with quote

I am trying to emerge chromium on my system and am having issues. Chromium requires the icu flag for libxml2 enabled while qtwebkit which is already installed requires the icu flag to be disabled. I have the icu flag globally set enabled in my make.conf file as well. I already have libxml2 installed with the -icu use flag. The slot conflict prevents me from emerging chromium at all. Package.mask doesn't work for libxml2. I have found similar forum posts on this topic but none applied to me and none contained a solution that worked for me. Please let me know if I should post anymore information than I have given below.

Code:

!!! Multiple package instances within a single package slot have been pulled
!!! into the dependency graph, resulting in a slot conflict:

dev-libs/libxml2:2

  (dev-libs/libxml2-2.9.0-r2::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
    dev-libs/libxml2:=[icu] required by (www-client/chromium-27.0.1453.81::gento
o, ebuild scheduled for merge)

  (dev-libs/libxml2-2.9.0-r2::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
    dev-libs/libxml2:2[!icu?] required by (dev-qt/qtwebkit-4.8.4::gentoo, instal
led)

emerge --info

Code:

ideanl,
see in http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Qt/FAQ#qt-webkit_vs_chromium_block_because_of_icu

Set in /etc/portage/package.use
Code:
dev-libs/libxml2 icu
dev-qt/qtwebkit icu
should solved it.

(sorry for me bad English)
