The title basically sums it up. When I run timidity (through /etc/init.d/timidity), MIDI plays but all other sound doesn't. There's no indication that they aren't playing, though. For instance, VLC will show up in the applications tab in the Gnome Sound Preferences window, but no sound is actually being made. Other audio works again when timidity is stopped, but it would nice if both worked at the same time. _________________ Property is theft. |

See end of thread:
Code: | ipc_key_add_uid true |
I've added that to the config in my sig. _________________ Improve your font rendering and ALSA sound |

I don't have a pcm.dmixer section in my asound.conf though.
Code: | pcm.pulse {
type pulse
}
ctl.pulse {
type pulse
}
pcm.!default {
type pulse
}
ctl.!default {
type pulse
}

If you're using pulseaudio, that will do the mixing work instead. |

Well yeah, except I'm still having the problem I described. I don't really know how to begin diagnosing it. _________________ Property is theft. |
