Uh.. people have been mistaken as ay-rabs due to turban confusion and assaulted.

So yeah, there is confusion. Everything posted here doesn't apply to you personally, pjp.

possibly because of its colonial connection to india, it seems that brits rarely get confused between sikhs and muslims.

Brits also don't call arabs "ay-rabs". So I was speaking of a particular demographic. One that includes many people who take great pride in being ignorant.

I have to admit I was once confused, when I made Pedo Mohammed, but then somebody explained that I had grabbed the wrong turban.

You should have used the safe and generically applicable towel.

For most of the PC brigade that is a sanitary towel affixed to their butthurt behinds.

the turban confusion is confusing to me. If you meet a random person on the street in america and he has a turban, he is most likely a sikh. You don't bump into high ranking islamic clerics from iran on the streets of iowa. they should just be told turban => sikh with high probability.

This is true.

I've also never heard anybody use the pronunciation "Ay-rabs", except in TV and movies.

However, when I was in college and working a summer job as a low-level laborer in a paper mill, and had a local cousin who was foolishly marrying an Iranian man who didn't want to go back to Iran, one of my co-workers did say to me, "So how's your Camel-ridin' Cousin?"
