Hi, on first instalation is ok, eth0 is named eth0, and wifi wlan0.
now:

its not that simple. Basically, gentoo has changed. It will no longer follow previous convention of wlan0 eth0 etc. Whatever you do will be a hack. So get used to it... Can't say i am happy about it myself, but i believe it was made that way with best intentions in mind.

1) read your news. I believe instructions are present to restore the names.
2) you can't rename them but you can stop them from being changed. You can however change the names to something different, like net*. The instructions should also be in the news item. _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
