k3b fails to find optical devices

Hi all,

I've been keeping up with upgrades and changes to how CD rom drives, etc. are accessed. However, I must have gone wrong somewhere and cannot seem to find the answers in the forums, namely as my kernel config does not seem to be messed up.

Anyway, when I run K3B I get a message saying that it cannot find optical drives, though I can mount them, etc. Moreover, I can rip tracks from a CD via the command line, but I cannot write to the writer via cdrdao as I get:
