How do I tell ebuild to compile and build from the source for a binary package.
ebuild compile does seem to work.
It works on non binary packages, but not for packages with the "binary" use flag enabled. |

Please give an example of the package you wish to compile and state what solution you used. Gentoo provides some packages that wrap built binaries, but those packages can never be used to rebuild the contained binary. If the binary was built from open source code, there is often a related ebuild that will build from source. For ebuilds that wrap proprietary binaries, there is no way to rebuild them because the vendor refuses to provide the code. |
