So, Fox carries an AP article and you're suddenly on the side against evolution?
Polar bear supposedly evolved from grizzlies, or something like that. Man from amoeba, why not desert camel from arctic camel? The environments have commonalities which seem like they might result in sharing of survival traits. _________________ lolgov. 'cause where we're going, you don't have civil liberties.

?
I'm hoping, but cannot tell from your response, that it is apparent that my posting was intended as humor.
Fox News posted a story consistent with their meme, Anthropogenic Global Warming Deniers.
An Arctic animal evolves into a desert animal.
Because the Anthropogenic Global Warming meme is that warming will cause extinctions not just be another driver of evolution.
Yet they scammed the story from the AP. ... |

I can't quite figure out your posts either. You have prejudged Fox, then feign surprise at an article you feel goes against that prejudice.
Aside from that, AP stories are "scammed" by most networks. _________________ lolgov. 'cause where we're going, you don't have civil liberties.

I'm not sure what you think a "driver of evolution" is. Extinction can leave vacant niches and other species can evolve to exploit them. As such, it could be thought of as a driver of evolution.
Global warming will certainly create a mass extinction event. There's no question about that. Surviving species will adapt and diversify to exploit available habitats and food sources, eventually creating a similar kind of biodiversity to what we see today. However, this process isn't quick. Mass extinctions have been observed many times in the fossil record and it takes tens of millions of years to restore biodiversity - a timescale (almost certainly) many times more than all of the rest of human history.
The living world as we know it will be devastated and will never recover, at least from our perspective. _________________ the underlay overlay |

50,000 people died in the horn of Africa recently as a direct result of climate change.
The f*ing arctic ice cap is melting.
How dumb do you have to be not to see what's happening?
The human population level will be dramatically reduced but we (probably) aren't going to become extinct, at least not solely due to climate change. A whole pile of other species will die off though.
In the late Permian extinction event, an initial warming of 5-6 degrees (CO2 from massive volcanic activity) hit some tipping points (including a massive methane burp from warming oceans) which added another 5-6 degrees of warming. Over 90% of all life on earth died off.
Expected species losses assuming warming of only a few degrees are about one third. However, it's looking increasingly likely that we're in line for 4-6 degrees which would make it almost certain that we will also hit tipping points which increase the amount of warming beyond that, perhaps dramatically so. _________________ the underlay overlay |

Yes, the locals were so desperately working together to face the challenges of feeding themselves that they didn't even notice that they were living in political turmoil and anarchy.
I know people that were flying food relief in the region 25 years ago. One of those guys tells of the militias machine gunning people over the food they had just given them. That was pre '93. Some things don't seem to change.
I remember watching, on cable, the CNN camera crews that were there filming the SEALS coming out of the surf at o'dark 30 to save the Somalians from themselves, having been sent by GHWB. Then of course there was the whole Clinton thing. |

You mean the few species that are going to survive intensive agriculture.

That's one of the theories, other theories do not require CO2 driven climate changes. _________________ Truck!!

There is NO explanation for the late Permian extinction which does not involve huge quantities of CO2 released from the largest volcanic in history, the Siberian traps. _________________ the underlay overlay |

What are you rambling on about? I'm talking about deaths which can be directly attributed to climate change. _________________ the underlay overlay |

Droughts and other natural disasters triggered by global warming will impact (and are impacting) societies which might be wealthy or poor, well-organised or utterly dysfunctional, and everything in between. So what? The stressor which triggered this crisis is still climate-change-induced drought. The fact that a particular society is not well-able to deal with it is exactly why climate change will be so deadly in many third world countries. _________________ the underlay overlay |

Still fighting evolution? What are you, some kind of evolution denier? |

You can't fight evolution. What does that even mean? Gene frequencies in a population are never constant.
However, I do wonder about the wisdom of inducing a mass extinction event on the very same planet that we live on. _________________ the underlay overlay |
