I have an sd flash card. when I insert it into gentoo, I see /dev/mmcblk0p1, and when I mount it I see files.
If I reformat, write a file, or even "dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mmcblkp0", "dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mmcblk0p1", fdisk and create a linux partition and format, and so on..... I always get the original information.
The write protect tab is set to writable.
the same happens in Windows. we format it says format failed, we write a file to drive and it shows up and we can even open it. Eject it and reinsert and file is gone, looks just like original sdcard contents! _________________ Drinking from the fountain of knowldege.

Anynway to read counters or confirm?
Its a relatuvely new card. Used in raspberry pi. Seconds card. Power outage, raspberry pi lost power, and now card is messed up.
I can understand file system corrupting, but we should have been able to reformat and reuse. _________________ Drinking from the fountain of knowldege.
