I try to emerge world today and have this slot problem I cant really figure out what it really means :
Quote:
!!! Multiple package instances within a single package slot have been pulled
!!! into the dependency graph, resulting in a slot conflict:

Actually I do not really use Slot for this X stuff.
Code:
root@gentoox64 portage #  equery list -p x11-proto/xextproto
 * Searching for xextproto in x11-proto ...
[-P-] [  ] x11-proto/xextproto-7.2.0:0
[IP-] [  ] x11-proto/xextproto-7.2.1:0
[-P-] [ ~] x11-proto/xextproto-7.2.1-r1:0

Is that some dependencies between virtualbox and xorg ?
I tried to add ~amd64 for virtualbox as I have it for x11-libs but no chance.

Can anybody help me to understand and troubleshoot this ?

You have a mix that is not solvable:
stable x11-proto x11-base
unstable x11-libs

Simple way: Keep staying with one release of Gentoo. Current~unstable Gentoo works for me quiet stable. But I have masked xorg-server-1.13.2.901. Which I do sometimes I am not interested in release candidates.

Ok understood, thanks for the help.
I tried to add those X11 stuff to unstable :
x11-proto/* ~amd64
x11-base/* ~amd64
And then emerge is happy.
I want to have stable + unstable for KDE/firefox.
So far it is ok but I have sometimes troubles emerging.
I hope I can keep like that ...
