Shocking, isn't it? Too many ex-pat Californians moving in for cheap property (except in Boulder where they've regulated prices way up). If you look at recent presidential elections, they've been swinging Blue. I was certain they'd wise up last year, but no dice. If they're not willing to recognize that failure, then they've got to be nearly permanently a Blue State. If Texas didn't suck, I'd move there.

I was mainly just remembering somebody, but violence on campus is far from being a new problem (which your comment seems to suggest). I can suggest a scholarly article if you prefer.
