I'm using firefox-17.0.2. After booting I can start it without problems. But when I close it and try to restart again, nothing happens. There is no output at the command line.

Does anybody has an idea what's wrong?

The output of Strace is very long that's why I don't post it here. I found some differences.
First start (successful):
Code:
...
recvfrom(15, "\246\v\201\200\0\1\0\1\0\0\0\0\6gentoo\0\0\1\0\1\300\f\0\1\0\1\0\0"..., 1024, 0, {sa_family=AF_INET, sin_port=htons(53), sin_addr=inet_addr("208.67.222.222")}, [16]) = 40
close(15)                               = 0
symlink("67.215.65.132:+2404", "/home/thomas/.mozilla/firefox/8dkvnq84.default/lock") = 0
rt_sigaction(SIGHUP, NULL, {SIG_DFL, [], 0}, 8) = 0
rt_sigaction(SIGHUP, {0xb5080c90, ~[RTMIN RT_1], SA_SIGINFO}, {SIG_DFL, [], 0}, 8) = 0
rt_sigaction(SIGINT, NULL, {SIG_DFL, [], 0}, 8) = 0
rt_sigaction(SIGINT, {0xb5080c90, ~[RTMIN RT_1], SA_SIGINFO}, {SIG_DFL, [], 0}, 8) = 0
rt_sigaction(SIGQUIT, NULL, {SIG_DFL, [], 0}, 8) = 0
rt_sigaction(SIGQUIT, {0xb5080c90, ~[RTMIN RT_1], SA_SIGINFO}, {SIG_DFL, [], 0}, 8) = 0
rt_sigaction(SIGILL, NULL, {SIG_DFL, [], 0}, 8) = 0
rt_sigaction(SIGILL, {0xb5080c90, ~[RTMIN RT_1], SA_SIGINFO}, {SIG_DFL, [], 0}, 8) = 0
rt_sigaction(SIGABRT, NULL, {SIG_DFL, [], 0}, 8) = 0
rt_sigaction(SIGABRT, {0xb5080c90, ~[RTMIN RT_1], SA_SIGINFO}, {SIG_DFL, [], 0}, 8) = 0
rt_sigaction(SIGSEGV, NULL, {SIG_DFL, [], 0}, 8) = 0
rt_sigaction(SIGSEGV, {0xb5080c90, ~[RTMIN RT_1], SA_SIGINFO}, {SIG_DFL, [], 0}, 8) = 0
rt_sigaction(SIGTERM, NULL, {SIG_DFL, [], 0}, 8) = 0
rt_sigaction(SIGTERM, {0xb5080c90, ~[RTMIN RT_1], SA_SIGINFO}, {SIG_DFL, [], 0}, 8) = 0
...

Second start (failed):
Code:
...
recvfrom(15, "Q%\201\200\0\1\0\1\0\0\0\0\6gentoo\0\0\1\0\1\0\0\1\0\1\0\0\0"..., 1024, 0, {sa_family=AF_INET, sin_port=htons(53), sin_addr=inet_addr("208.67.222.222")}, [16]) = 39
close(15)                               = 0
time(NULL)                              = 1360502185
open("/etc/localtime", O_RDONLY|O_CLOEXEC) = 15
fstat64(15, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=2309, ...}) = 0
...
