Still have to hear something to not justify it. Jobs wasn't the genius some people want to make him out to be, he was just a rather good salesman, and as such knew how to play to the crowd, nothing more. |

Quite a bit more, actually, but not the demigod iPhans think he is. Cook has collected a paycheck, that's about it. _________________ lolgov. 'cause where we're going, you don't have civil liberties.

Cook is an administrator, takes care of the supply chain.
Consider the Nexus 4 and the iPhone 5. You walk into any store, you can expect to buy an iPhone, while Google and LG are bickering about the projected estimates of demand of the phone, which made it impossible to get in the days, weeks, months after it was released.
Cook has been credited to making the phone available, much more widely than its rivals. _________________ What looks like a cat, flies like a bat, brays like a donkey, and plays like a monkey? |

I've never tried to buy an Apple product. Weren't there manufacturing problems with various white variations of iDevices? _________________ lolgov. 'cause where we're going, you don't have civil liberties.

Yes there was. They weren't able to get the glass at the proper shade of white. _________________ What looks like a cat, flies like a bat, brays like a donkey, and plays like a monkey? |

Isn't that a manufacturing problem, not a supply problem? Seems like two different things. In other words, Cook is not screwing up what is already working. Jobs had to solve a problem (and apparently did so). So far as I've heard, nothing new has happened under Cook. Which explains the stock. _________________ lolgov. The general availability of previous iPhones were lower than this one.
To get one of the previous phones, one had to book at multiple locations, stand in a queue and whatnot. While with the new one, people walked into stores and got their phones. Both black and white wer available on the first day. _________________ What looks like a cat, flies like a bat, brays like a donkey, and plays like a monkey? |

5yr (you'll have to select the 5yr option, it doesn't embed in the link). Failure to innovate leads to lower stock price as well as shareholder lawsuits to pay out dividends. Cook may have something coming, it just hasn't happened yet. _________________ lolgov. 'cause where we're going, you don't have civil liberties.

Yes, under Cook's leadership, the company seems to be faltering in innovation but when has that gotten in the way in making profits for a company?
Take Samsung. Which of their phones are innovative? _________________ What looks like a cat, flies like a bat, brays like a donkey, and plays like a monkey? |

Since Steve Jobs death, Apple stock has beaten the Dow Jones and NASDAQ, as well as Microsoft, HP, and Dell. Google has done better, on the other hand.

Seems like they are leading the way in terms of internals. They were the first with Dual Core processors and then later Quad Core processors. People either love or hate their touchwiz gui...dont know if Id call that innovative. Theyve been willing to take risk in terms of screen size...wagering that give the utility of a bigger screen than anyone else, people will forgo the inconvenience of not being able to fit anything else in their pocket.
Galaxy Note is pretty cool. Nobody else has anything like that.

I have no idea what this means. Since Jobs death, Apple's stock price has increased, and furthermore, it has increased faster than the stock market as a whole and faster than most of their competitors. How could you possibly look at that result, and not conclude that Cook is doing a decent job so far?
To be more specific, if "outperforming the market ... isn't usually sustainable", yet Cook has done it so far, isn't that more evidence that he is above average? |

Somebody had to say that, I guess.
Isn't the development of the Apple stock something that is usually typical of a bubble? Just asking, my knowledge of stock markets and their workings is limited. _________________ Kali Ma

| Yeah, it does seem to be like "I heard from this guy down the pub that iPhone 6 is coming out soon..". Not exactly sterling journalism, but that's what you get these days when you employ illiterate bloggers to write stories. |
