Hi all,
I am running gentoo-sources-3.7.3 on my pavilion laptop. It has a built in Realtek RTS5209 card reader according to lspci. I have it enabled and it has worked fine, but I think it is causing "HDIO_DRIVE_CMD(identify) failed: Invalid argument" messages. I think this is causing it because there ar onle two sd* drives - sda and sdb. sda is my hard drive and gives output with hdparm -I /dev/sda, but gives HDIO_DRIVE_CMD(identify) failed: Invalid argument with hdparm -I /dev/sdb. Does anyone know what at boot is triggering this when the card reader is attached to /dev/sdb, and what I can do to turn it off? It does not appear to be causing any problems, but it is just annoying - and one of those things that is a low priority, but I should eventually figure out how to fix.
Thanks!

I figured out it was laptop-mode. The default is a wildcard that controls sd[abcdefgh]. I just set it to /dev/sda and the error went away..... |
