Hello,

I had kaffeine working well until the last udev update. (amd64 system)

Now, there is an error message when I launch kaffeine from a terminal

Quote:
kaffeine(6376) DvbLinuxDevice::startDevice: cannot open frontend "dvb/adapter0/frontend0"

The usb stick is plugged and recognized by the kernel :
Quote:

And /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0 exists
Code:
$ ls -l /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 212, 3 22 janv. 21:18 /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0

A am of course part of the video group
I tried to re-emerge kaffeine, with no luck.

I tried to downgrade udev
Code:
# emerge -avD =udev-171-r10

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild     UD ] sys-fs/udev-171-r10 [197-r3] USE="gudev hwdb introspection keymap rule_generator%* -action_modeswitch% -build% -debug% -edd% (-extras) -floppy% (-selinux) {-test%} (-acl%*) (-doc%) (-kmod%*) (-openrc%*) (-static-libs%)" 603 kB
[blocks B      ] <sys-fs/udev-186 ("<sys-fs/udev-186" is blocking sys-fs/udev-init-scripts-19-r1)

Total: 1 package (1 downgrade), Size of downloads: 603 kB
Conflict: 1 block (1 unsatisfied)

!!! Multiple package instances within a single package slot have been pulled
!!! into the dependency graph, resulting in a slot conflict:

sys-fs/udev:0

  (sys-fs/udev-171-r10::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
    =udev-171-r10

  (sys-fs/udev-197-r3::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
    >=sys-fs/udev-197-r3[gudev?,hwdb?,introspection?,keymap?,selinux?,static-libs?] required by (virtual/udev-197::gentoo, installed)

As this is my main system, I do not want to do anything that could break it. That's why I hesitate to touch the init-scripts !

What would be the best (and safest) way to solve this problem ?

Thank's for your answer.

I already rebooted, to try an older kernel.

No change.

I hadn't seen this message, but as far as I understand what it is about, my system is fine with this.

I believe the problem is more related to kaffeine than udev, because I am using now me-tv without problems (kaffeine still does not work)

EDIT : I've just had the message today ! Is this normal that I have it some days after the udev update ?
