All was working prior to doing the following. Following instructions, I set my profile using eselect to default/linux/amd64/13.0. I then did an emerge world (usually do this daily) on my ~amd64 system, and now the problem. I'm hoping someone can suggest some kind of fix. Emacs still thinks that <cntrl> space should invoke the set-mark-command. Below is the list of packages that were brought in today. After these were emerged I ran haskell-updater --upgrade, and the usual revdep-rebuild.

    sys-apps:hwids
    net-misc:curl
    dev-libs:libical
    dev-lang:ghc

    dev-haskell:cairo
    mail-mta:postfix
    app-i18n:ibus

Rebooting fixed the problem.
