Hello everyone. Recently I started experiencing very slow gnome startups. GDM appears and lets me log in as normal, but after that I have to wait about 30 seconds until gnome panels appear, having nothing but a mouse pointer. The pointer does move freely. I checked Xorg logs - they are clean (http://bpaste.net/show/67165/), and here's my xorg.conf - http://bpaste.net/show/67166/. Dmesg (http://bpaste.net/show/67167/) doesn't seem to notice anything strange. Neither does GDM itself (http://bpaste.net/show/67168/) Where else can I look? I can't seem to remember what have I changed before this delay started to appear. But I did play with conky, and added another cd-rom when I noticed the delay. |

Could you please pastebin your .conkyrc and tell us more about the cd-rom you added. seems unlikely conky would do anything unless you have a crazy fast update interval, or some features that require a lot of processing power.
also, did you upgrade gnome to a newer version recently. |
