PostPosted: Fri Dec 14, 2012 1:07 pm    Post subject: [Solved] qt applications: "Segmentation fault" Reply with quote

Applications with "Segmentation fault" error I tried:
/usr/bin/keepassx (this is the application I wanted to run)
/usr/bin/qtconfig (this run just to test)

I am writing this, because the problem is solved, although differently from solutions I have read in the forums, so perhaps it could be useful for others. I am inclined to think that a re-emerge of just qt-core has solved my (and many other users's) problem (see below).

Quote:
fixed by emerging libSM, libICE and qt-core, then re-emerging the app

In my case, libSM and libICE have not been re-emerged.

The packages have been re-merged with the command line:
Code:
emerge -v x11-libs/qt-core x11-libs/qt-dbus x11-libs/qt-gui x11-libs/qt-qt3support x11-libs/qt-script x11-libs/qt-sql x11-libs/qt-xmlpatterns app-admin/eselect-qtgraphicssystem

They have been re-merged in the following order:
    1 eselect-qtgraphicssystem-1.1.1
    2 qt-core-4.8.2
    3 qt-dbus-4.8.2
    4 qt-script-4.8.2
    5 qt-sql-4.8.2
    6 qt-xmlpatterns-4.8.2
    7 qt-gui-4.8.2
    8 qt-qt3support-4.8.2

After qt-core re-emerged (unfortunately, do not know which other one was being re-emerged at the time), while some were still being compiled, I tried running qtconfig and keepassx (the former, initially with sudo, after I read a related post, but then as normal user), and they executed correctly.

Thus, repeating, I am inclined to think that a re-emerge of just qt-core would have solved my (and many other users's) issue.

This is my first post here, so, I do not know if it was correct to include [Solved] in the Subject
