elogviewer / elogv won't read save_summary log

I emerged both elogv and elogviewer into my system, but prior to adding the relevant PORTAGE_ELOG_SYSTEM, and PORTAGE_ELOG_CLASSES, settings to my /etc/portage/make.conf, I noticed that I already have a /var/log/portage/elog directory with summary.log files from my emerge history. Looking through it it appears that my system already has the following enabled;

it just doesn't work with summary, but the elog files done by portage.

I would have thought that being able to read the summary log files would be a good feature request for either, (elogv or elogviewer). However, the sourceforge home for elogviewer doesn't show much recent activity. I'll switch from save_summary to save so I can use them for now.
