I figured this would be trivial, but its proving to be not so apparent. Here's the situation: I have a large collection of MP3s that are properly tagged with lyrics within their ID3 tags. I use MPD for music playback and Conky for displaying playback info on my desktop. I would like to script Conky to display the lyrics for the currently playing track. If I can find a command line tool to run against a specified MP3 file that outputs the ID3 lyrics, I can script it into my Conky config. The problem I have is that all the CLI tools I've tried can display the "typical" fields such as Artist, Track Number, Album, etc, but not the lyrics field.
Existing solutions that other people around the net have used tend to involve a script that takes the currently playing song in MPD, performs a web search for the lyrics, and displays them to output, which gets displayed by Conky. I don't have a consistent network connection, so this isn't viable for me. I have a feeling that I'm missing something simple. So, does anyone know of a way to output the lyrics ID3 tag via command line? _________________ AMD am386DX-40 (40Mhz) , ECC-SIMM (Single Inline) 4MB, Seagate ST3120A 107MB IDE, Hercules ISA Graphite 1MB 16-bit VGA AGX014 Chipset, Soundblaster 16, Toshiba XM-4101B 2X SCSI CD-ROM |
