|
|
I know it's not considered the most secure thing on a Gentoo system but I really wanna get Hexen running.
Have tried getting it to run by placing the hexen.wad in jhexen directory under /usr somewhere but no luck. Need even permission to get it moved there so everything not right.
Basically problem is what do I do with hexen.wad?
It's the retail version. |

"man doomsday" should give you details, as does this. |
Thanks for nice and useful tip.
I gave up on getting the thing to work without addons however and accepted snowberry package as addon.
I got another doom type game that is Heretic to load totally without any problems.
The Hexen game loads with the message of an error in libsdfm.so and then closes. Maybe this would go away in case I moved from using Gallium to FGLRX instead but since that would be pretty impractical I won't consider going there. |

I'm running Doomsday with Doom1 (regular or Ultimate), Doom2, Heretic (3 or 5 episode), and Hexen all working. I've used some of the USE flags to get extras, but I don't believe I've installed any "add-on packs". I don't have music, though I do have sound effects. I also can't get at that machine at the moment, but can tell you more later tonight. _________________ .sigs waste space and bandwidth |

The original soundtracks of Doom, Heretic and Hexen are MIDI songs and to my best knowledge thus are always depending on a working software MIDI synthesizer (e.g. Timidity). I haven't played any of them lately with MIDI songs though. For Doom I have used the available songs provided as add-on.
