Recently mplayer and mencoder have stopped working for mpeg2 files.
I don't have any problems playing the videos with ffplay or any other video player
so Iam pretty sure the files are ok.
I receive the following error
mpeg2video @ 0x7ff4ba6a4d00]get_buffer() failed (stride changed)
Error while decoding frame!
Been stuck on this problem for awhile, if anyone has seen and fixed this problem
I'd greatly appreciate any help.

| I too have been seeing the same error with certain vob files taken direct from my DVD collection. In my case the problem went away by reverting to a previous version of mplayer. |

I gave up as well. I just built mplayer direct from their svn and uninstalled the gentoo version.
Now everything is working, including some other problems I was having with mp4 files.
I guess I should file a bug, but I'm not sure if the problem lies in mplayer or ffmpeg. |
