|
|
Hi, ALL,
I have a AMD Radeon HD 6310 on my laptop.
AFAIU, for the driver I have a selection of in-kernel driver - radeon, xf86-video-ati and ai-drivers.
What are my choices to select best options for the system?
I am upgrading my system and trying to get rid of the stuff I don't need.
Thank you. |

Could you explain your question? Your choice is whether to use the open source driver or the proprietary driver. To use the open driver, you enable the kernel's Radeon support and use the xf86-video-ati package for your X server. To use the proprietary driver, you disable the kernel's Radeon support and use the ati-drivers package. Are you asking for a recommendation as to which one is a better fit for your usage? If so, we need to know more about your usage model. |

Hu,
Thank you for clearing this up.
The problem was that I currently have all 3 options.
So now, I can simply get rid of ati-drivers and be happy. |

what three? there are only two options, ati-drivers which includes fglrx kernel module and the foss which includes radeon kernel module, xf86-video-ati and mesa. _________________ Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity and I'm not sure about the former - Albert Einstein |
