hi,
i am currently using gentoo (3.6.2-ck) along with xfce 4.10 on my lenovo x120e netbook. Everything runs fine except for a few video related glitches.
1st problem: i am unable to start virtual console from xfce. pressing CTRl+alt+f1 leads to a dark blank screen.if i return back to xfce by pressing ctrl+alt+f7 , i get a broken desktop which is shifted rightways as shown in the 2nd image.
similarly if i log out of xfce and login again ,my screen gets split into two halves as it has been shifted rightways. the lack of virtual console is more troublesome as compared to the log out problem, but both of them seem to be related.

after logout: http://imgur.com/p9Wgw
my xorg.conf is completely empty.
plz help
thanks |

I also had a video-related issue with that version of ck-sources (nvidia-drivers would not compile against it). Do you have this problem when you compile a kernel from 3.5.7 and then recompile your video drivers against it?
Also, by "empty", do you mean that you do not have an xorg.conf? Having an actual /etc/X11/xorg.conf file with nothing in it is not a good idea. Either use xorg.conf or delete it. _________________ Gentoo Studio: http://gentoostudio.org

thanks Audiodef,
Before ck-sources I was using the default gentoo-sources and had the same problems. Is it related to the ati open source drivers which i am using? and i dont have xorg.conf file. I forgot to mention in last post , i also dont get shutdown messages displayed on the screen while system switches off.
thanks |
