I have been using gentoo for a long time and the same for LaTeX. I have all the texlive*font* packages installed. However, I notice while recompiling old documents that many fonts now get replaced with other more or less close variants. This used not to be the case a few months ago. Has something changed recently ? Did I miss something ? What is the reason for this downgrade ?

Can you post latex output with error and your document preamble?
