Now I know this is most likely not Gentoo-specific, but I'd still appreciate any help, as the only problem I've had is with the Gentoo CD. I have a Creative 5x DVD drive that cannot read (let alone boot) any Gentoo images I've burned. I've tried many methods, even copying the files over and re-making a bootable image with mkisofs. My roommate has the same DVD drive and it reads all the CDs I've burned fine. My SCSI CDRW (which reads the discs fine) can't boot (as far as I can tell) as its attached to an Adaptec 7850 scsi adapter.
My old Slackware 8.0 cd can be read and booted fine (and it uses isolinux too apparently). |
