So you voted for comedy. Don't feel bad: it's the only good reason to vote, really. _________________ Your argument is invalid. |

| Fox just called Ohio in Romney's favor and glumly admitted that it looks like we'll have four more years of Obama. |

I just saw Fox News call Ohio for Obama, and essentially start calling the election for him (although they haven't actually said so).
He's won a bunch of battleground states by 1% or 2%, and has an overall 2% margin in the popular vote, but his continuous campaigning in those battleground states over the course of his four years in office has paid off. Apparently Democrats did get off their couches and go out and vote, and the Obama coalition has held together.
He'll face the same kinds of problems, given a narrow margin of victory and a barely existent mandate. We will either see four more years of partisan gridlock, or we'll see Obama move toward center in order to try and get some things done. I don't think he has it in him to do that, though. I think he'll keep charging right down his left-wing path and banging his head against the wall, while blaming the wall for being there. _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.

WTF? Why is Fox News projecting an Obama win?
After 4 LONG years of Chicken-Little-the-Sky-Is-Falling, how could Obama possibly win? According to Fox, Obama is
a Muslim
not American
not born here
a Socialist
a Marxist
pals around with terrorists
Hell, we were ALL supposed to be rounded up in FEMA camps two years ago.
So why in the world would Fox be predicting an Obama win now?
And what's next? Another 4 years of Chicken Little from Fox? _________________ Of course you can have my root password. I'm on Hardened! |

Apparently they prematurely ejaculated over Ohio. It's still up in the air at the moment, after another batch of votes came in and Obama's lead there dropped in a major way (to something like 900 votes). Some pundits may reneg on their call for the time being, and others may not bother, because even if his lead is smaller, he's still got a lead. _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.

Three weeks. It was three months for mcgruff if Romney won, and I think mcgruff should do it anyway, just as a show of good sportsmanship. _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.

Exactly, but wasn't it flipped in 2008, with all of the banks (the bigs ones that were bailed out) financing the Obama campaign? And lo and behold, 4 years later, no criminal prosecutions for the mortgage fraud. (And we are talking THOUSANDS of fraudulent documents submitted to courts all over the country.) Of course, Romney could EASILY have won this election. All he had to do was promise to prosecute the mortgage fraud that screwed the taxpayers AND the system and point out the fact Obama has so far not lifted a finger to see that justice was done. Mitt would have won by a landslide, but oddly enough, the Republicans aren't talking anywhere near it either. Gee, I wonder why that might be. _________________ Of course you can have my root password. I'm on Hardened! |

And that was confusing the hell out of me. I didn't know if I was having a flashback or what.
Slashdot is calling it for Obama.

Obama was definitely beatable if only the GOP could find a strong candidate. |
Oh please. Mitt was chosen precisely because he won't/can't win. The Republicans have always won by playing to the fundagelical base. Fundagelicals will never be excited to vote for a 'cultist' Mormon. That was hint number one as to what to expect and this was known LONG ago. Add to that the greater than 50% support amongst the population for gay marriage and the fact Mitt is against gay marriage and you have strike two. (What is the point of taking a position that YOU KNOW less than half of the population supports?) Add to that his immigration stance ("he opposes most proposals for a pathway to legalization for people who are here illegally" and there goes the Latino vote.
Look folks, this isn't rocket science. Whose campaign did the 1% toss the most money to in the last presidential election? That is who won. Whose campaign has the 1% tossed the most money to in this presidential campaign? That is who will win THIS election.
And if you have no idea who the 1% have 'christened' as the next president by purchasing the election, I strongly suggest you acquaint yourself with opensecrets.org whose information on campaign donations told the exact same story in the last election. |
I'm done here. I rest my case. _________________ Of course you can have my root password. I'm on Hardened! |

Yeah, you had that two percent margin figured out pretty good. My hat is off to you. You're a master debater.
Another empire fades from short-lived glory. Our country will now become indistinguishable from Canada. Even New Yorkers will become polite and sheepish, calling from the windows of cars, "pardon me, sir, but I had the right of way", rather than flipping the bird and shouting "Ay! Fuck yowah mothah, yoo motha fuckin' cock suckah!" _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.
