So, a friend decided to hook me up with some non-controlled parts, and I decided to do the rest!

EDIT: Upper receiver came in the mail yesterday.

EDIT: Lower parts kit just got here.

EDIT: The rifle is now primarily assembled.

EDIT: Someone wanted to take video of me firing off four rounds.

I googled AR15 to find out what it was. Apparently it's a big, pink gun that plays "YMCA" when you pull the trigger.

AR15 refers to a weapons platform. This one is going to look like this.

And the point is that they are fun to shoot. Also, gun crimes in my town seem to be on the rise.

My first thought was a distillery when I first read the thread title.

The AR is sweet. Shot my son in law's AK47 last spring. That was pretty cool.

The self perpetuating stereotype trundles on. I fail to see how having that weapon is going to do much about gun crime. It's not exactly built to be stuffed down your pants for a late night milk run.

2. Target practice here and there.
3. A home defense carbine.

Yes, I was issued an M16A2 first and then an M16A4.

Is that the "Hope and Change" one? I see that it is Palmetto State Armory, which IIRC is the company that makes that particular lower receiver.
