Biden's only successful debate was vs Palin... and even that is a questionable conclusion. So, indeed, it shouldn't strike twice and Biden's simpletonesque tiny and confused mind shouldn't be able to pull off anything that anyone would consider a "win" again. _________________ If I had a dollar for every time capitalism was blamed for the problems caused by government, I'd be a fat filmmaker with a baseball cap |

Rookie Ryan v Old Hand Joe. I think we know how that's really going to turn out.
Rape-ublicans think they smashed the first debate and that'll only encourage them to continue lying like crazy. It'll backfire hard though if Biden and Obama start calling them out, quietly but forcefully. _________________ the underlay overlay |

You really are something special. So utterly brainwashed by the propaganda of the US president... it's beyond weird, it's entered the realm of hilarious! _________________ If I had a dollar for every time capitalism was blamed for the problems caused by government, I'd be a fat filmmaker with a baseball cap |

This is exactly right. The liberal media, who were standing around gape-mouthed in shock, are not going to let this happen again. Nor is the Obama campaign, who is probably quite dismayed that it's lemming-like followers made a really big deal over it.
So while this last debate was about facts, the rest will be about perceptions. Obama and Biden are going to stand up there and just confidently and forcefully say something -- anything -- whether it makes any sense, is remotely close to being true, or has anything whatsoever to do with the topic of discussion. There will also be a few idiotic "zingers" thrown in, for the fapping, idiotic masses.
Combined with the real-time spin, which has ALREADY begun -- preemptive spin, if you can imagine, followed by "real time" spin, followed by a tightly-coordinated "consensus" among the liberal media, who know better than to let their on-air personalities actually react to the real situation and will probably have it pretty much all scripted out in advance.
Now that Obama had his ass reamed out in broad daylight, the debates from this point forward are going to be a liberal media Jedi Mind Trick circle-jerk of epic proportions. _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.

Yes.
| juniper wrote: | | i don't know anything about either, except a brief reading on the wiki pages. Ryan like Ayn Rand, or went through a Rand phase, so that's a strike against him. |
The arguments crafted in Rand's stories are quite good, so for me it is a plus that he enjoys her work. Ryan rejects Objectionism, but seems to like the general "vibe" of Rand's fictional works.
I'll take Ryan's appreciation of Rand over Biden's love of Dr. Seuss (his reading comprehension doesn't get much high than Seuss). |
i take it you mean "objectivism". I don't like her arguments. Then again, I admit to reading only a little of her writings. I am in between books, but I don't know if I want to waste it on her. |

Seriously there's nothing to see. It's a pseudo-intellectual "philosophy" of selfishness which appeals to green teenagers, psycopaths and general retards. I choose these words carefully. Randy An is to serious philosophy what Tolkien is to English Literature: an epic fantasy filled with dark and nasty creatures. If she was a Tolkien character she'd be firmly on the side of the "rugged individualism" of Sauron.
Hayek, Adam Smith, OK I can understand. But Rand..?! That's just embarrassing. _________________ the underlay overlay |

Yeah, I watched the first 45 minutes, thought Biden was doing better, then went out for a brisk trek around the lake.
I assume nothing worth watching happened in my absence.
I do prefer this moderator over the last one though. |

| It was certainly ugly, which may be the strategy. Biden was dominant gorilla in the end, but thats as constructive as it gets. |

Read Atlas Shrugged. Lousy writing, but a good story and interesting ideas. |

Thing about Biden, while he did way better then Obama, this end stuff about him being all for the middle class and not for Wall Street doesn't have any credit anymore.
Democrats are running with rethorics of what they should be about, but they are not. That's the conundrum |

| Well at least this debate wasn't a total yawner like the first presidential debate. Ryan didn't fare too well. Pretty embarrassing when you consider that the competition spends most of his life with his foot in his mouth. |

It was about what I expected. I think both of them argued their points reasonably well (both missed some obvious opportunities). Biden definitely made better use of non-verbal communication, though. In that regard, it was almost a reversal of the Romney / Obama debate. That aspect will weigh heavily with some, not with others (for example, I expect Biden resonated very well with seniors). He overdid it a little bit with the interrupting and sniping while Ryan was talking, and the whiny perception he wasn't getting equal time (which he was). That was especially inappropriate after Obama got 5 minutes more than Romney in the last one.
Between the two, I thought Ryan was more factually accurate, but that Biden did a better job of making the other guy look like he was lying, which is key to the Obama/Biden propaganda at this point. _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.
