Hi everyone,
I've been given a free Macbook Pro 4,1 with a broken DVD drive. I want to install Gentoo using a LiveUSB stick. I've been following instructions listed below;
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/liveusb.xml
But I cannot get the stick to boot. From what I have read searching these forums, I've learned that Macbooks don't have a bios and uses EFI. From the forums I have found a tutorial here on how to use rEFIt;
http://phorcix.org/proj/g_mbp8/gentoo_mbp8.txt
I am still confused as what I need to do to make the liveUSB boot on my Macbook. This is the first Macbook I have tried to install Gentoo on. What other considerations do I need to make when I install. What about grub? Any help would be appreciated. |
