I'm installing gentoo onto a compact flash drive with two partitions; sda1 as a small boot and sda2 as root.
When trying to boot I'm getting the following:
Code:
ata2.01: CFA: TS16GCF600, 20101008, max UDMA/66
ata2.01: 31293360 sectors, multi 0: LBA
ata2.01: configured for UDMA/66
scsi 1:0:1:0: Direct-Access   ATA   TS16GCF600 2010 PQ: 0 ANSO: 5
sd 1:0:1:0: [sda] 31293360 512-byte logical blocks: (16.0 GB/14.9 GiB)
sd 1:0:1:0: [sda] Write Protect is off
sd 1:0:1:0: [sda] write cache: disabled, read cache: enabled doesn't support DPO or FUA
 sda: sda1 sda2
sd 1:0:1:0 [sda] Attached SCSI removable disk
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
Pid: 1, comm: swapper/0 Not tainted 3.3.8-gentoo #7
I've been googling like crazy and see this is a fairly common issue, heck, I've even posted something similar before, but I can't find the issue for the life of me.
I previously had this hardware booting Gentoo but I was doing a reinstall for repurposing.

Here is my grub.conf, fstab, .config, and lspci. If there's anything else I can provide to assist with the issue please let me know.
grub.conf
fstab
.config
lspci

don't use real_root , add rootdelay as usb often needs "settling" time, reduce root delay to speed boot if you wish.
Quote:
kernel /boot/bzImage rootdelay=10 root=/dev/sda2

*facepalm*
Thanks DONAHUE, I really needed another set of eyes on this as I was browsing my kernel forever, looking for a missing driver.
