Hi dear all,

I'm not trying to troll, just requestng a little help from my friends... :-)

1) I'd would rather design using linux env.
2) It is very likely site will be brought to real life on Wndows ... At the beginning at least ;-)
3) Remember I'm a web design noob, and don't have much time to spend on it.

Any advice in this respect?

Thanks for your attention.

"Design" could mean anything. Can you be more specific? Graphic design? Information design? Database design? Coding?

Also, if it's a web site, it's not about the operating system, but about the browser, and if it's important that it work for as many people as possible, you'll want to make sure it works in both IE and Mozilla/Gecko. The former is known for flipping off W3C standards, while the latter is known to follow them, which means if you code for one, you'll often need a "fix" for the other.

Well ...
I need text information and graphics in my static pages :)...
No need for a database 8) .
Thanks for reminding me that I will anyway face the W3C standards dilemma .

Hoping these information would be enough for somebody to provide me with expected type of information ...

Thanks for your attention, interest and support .

For graphics, use the Gimp (emerge gimp). Bluefish is an excellent editor that has code highlighting for many languages.

You have a server or host set up?
