Hi guys,
I am not able to install the webcam. I have a Microsoft Lifecam HD-6000, that is marked as supported in the UVC page: http://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/
So I enabled the kernel driver for Video4Linux:
Device Drivers -> Multimedia Support -> Video for Linux [kernel bultin] and Video capture adapters -> V4L USB Devices [bultin]
recompiled and updated the kernel, then rebooted.
However when performing v4l-info [from media-tv/xawtv-3.95-r2] it says there is no /dev/video0 entry.

This is the output from dmesg when connecting the webcam:
Code:

When uvcvideo is loaded (Gentoo automatically modprobes uvcvideo), I see this:

Code:
[    8.385677] Linux video capture interface: v2.00
[    8.389370] uvcvideo 1-1.1:1.0: usb_probe_interface
[    8.389375] uvcvideo 1-1.1:1.0: usb_probe_interface - got id
[    8.389394] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device HP Truevision HD (1bcf:2c0e)

in my dmesg. Do you see

Code:
Module                  Size  Used by
uvcvideo               65919  0
videobuf2_core         18829  1 uvcvideo
videodev               88709  1 uvcvideo
videobuf2_vmalloc       2348  1 uvcvideo
videobuf2_memops        1870  1 videobuf2_vmalloc

when you run lsmod ?

there is a third option I was missing in the kernel :
Video capture devices -> V4L USB Drivers -> USB Video Class (UVC)

Currently the webcam only works after a reboot, then it seems to go in standby. One way to solve this issue is to manually detach and reconnect the usb cable, but is there another manner to wake it up with the software?
