I'm getting this bug
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430482

I can't mask this particular version, as that specific version is required and when I try to use the upstream that builds, the gnome upgrade forces a downgrade on this package with the bug. Is there some fix to make this version build?

Specifically, the build output fails at this point

Code:
udev/udev_udev_configure_printer-udev-configure-printer.o: In function `device_id_from_devpath':
udev-configure-printer.c:(.text+0xef2): undefined reference to `udev_get_sys_path'

Edit:
When I tried masking this version I get all these packages that depend on this particular version,
Code:
The following mask changes are necessary to proceed:
#required by app-admin/system-config-printer-gnome-1.3.9-r1, required by gnome-base/gnome-control-center-3.4.2-r1[cups], required by net-libs/gnome-online-accounts-3.4.2[gnome], required by gnome-extra/evolution-data-server-3.4.4[gnome-online-accounts], required by dev-libs/folks-0.6.9[eds], required by gnome-extra/gnome-contacts-3.4.1, required by net-im/empathy-3.4.2.3[gnome], required by gnome-base/gnome-core-apps-3.4.1, required by gnome-base/gnome-3.4.1, required by @selected, required by @world (argument)

Ok so I found a fix, just using the keywords from http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/gnome.git;a=blob;f=status/portage-configs/package.keywords.gnome3 solved the issue by unmasking packages that didn't depend on this defunct version of system-config-printer-common. Now I'm on the newer version with the fix, and the gnome 3.4 install proceeds :D
