In USA/Canada they use a different scale called Anti Knock Index

Hey there junior badass, ever feel like there's a caged animal trapped inside of you?

Only one cure for that: getting a fucking sick motorcycle. A 1971 Honda CB350. This golden lady will get you to work like a full-blown go hard, transport you and your shotgun through the zombie apocalypse, and give you a new platform for barreling down the boulevard with the wind tearing at your clothes screaming, "I AM ALIVE!" on the way to fucking bikram yoga.

Runs like corn through a goose. Engine rebuilt a year ago with ~400 miles on it since then.

I put new tires on the old girl, because you don't deprive a classy lady of classy shoes. I gave her a new chain because she needed some fucking jewelry.

Electric start, kickstart, fucking push start, you name it.

Why am I selling it? Cos being alive rules, and I'm far too gnarly of a dude to have a motorcycle. I see a ramp, I'm gonna hit that motherfucker going 300 mph, backflip over the 405.

$2300 gets you the Golden Lady, two helmets, some fucking saddlebags, a shop manual, a quart of oil (plus all the oil that's up in her right now), a full tank of PREMIUM MOTHERFUCKING GASOLINE (91 octaaaaaannneeee), some links to my favorite YouTube videos, a short story about robots, a cup of coffee with me, and whatever kind of donut you want.

It's a good ad because he's asking about $1,500 too much.

So, does c*list not like creativity or cussing? I don't see why it would be removed. Charging too much doesn't seem lie a reason to remove an ad.

CL lets users flag postings and then they are automatically removed. So most likely some retarded Christian was "offended" (I put it into quotes because you can't claim to be offended and continue reading, IMO) and flagged the posting to be removed.

There isn't any human sanity check on the removal of content on CL, any asshole can down any post there.

91 octane in the US translates to about 95 octane in Europe.

93 octane US is "proper" premium, and translates to roughly 97-98 octane in Europe, but engines that will run on 93 that will not run on 91 will not pass CARB. As a result, 93 octane isn't really sold anywhere. They sell 91 and call it premium, because that's the best you will see in an average gas station.

Despite the relative lack of regulations in regards to gas mileage, California has significantly stricter smog regulations than Europe. That's one of the reasons European cars are so shitty when they're sold in the US: they lose ~15% of their horsepower in order for them to pass CARB. That's also one of the reasons cars based on US engines are so shitty when they're sold internationally: the design baseline is to pass smog in California, and they typically don't bother tuning them to perform optimally in Europe.

It's safe to say that California ruined the auto industry. Not the unions, not mismanagement, not the contradictory demands of the average consumer.

Are you able or willing to explain why the California requirements "ruined" the industry, and how that results in poorer performance in Europe? Put a different way, what is the technical difference between the two? I think what you're not quite saying is that European engines on European octane ore "better" than US engines on US octane, and mixing the two produces a worse result than either on their own?

I don't follow. If 91 US octane is 95 Europe octane, European cars should work just fine with your 91 premium gas, since it's the same they get here, only it's called 95 octane.
Or did you speak only of cars that need higher octane fuel, like Porsche, Ferrari etc, that need to be adjusted to run on 95 (91 US) octane as well in order to pass CARB and thus lose some of their hp?

Still doesn't explain why US cars should run any worse on 95 octane fuel here (or 98 or higher, which is sold here at every Shell and Aral station)

Well, no. If you build an engine that requires 93AKI/97RON, and fill it with 93AKI/97RON, it will never pass CARB. It just won't. There are too many unburnt hydrocarbons, and a catalytic converter won't be able to pick up the slack.

Poke around on some car forums and you'll run into a lot of people who will import the proper engine for their European sports car and install it in their car. Totally illegal, of course, but depending on what state you live in and/or who your friends are it's a cheap way to get an appreciable amount of extra horsepower.

They don't run worse -- they're just as good there as they are here in California. And that's the problem; US manufacturers are building cars to US regulations and selling them in Europe, with more relaxed regulations. They're playing major league baseball with minor league bats.

I'm being a bit hyperbolic when I say California ruined the US auto industry.

All I know about this:

A certain german car company uses american diesel to test their diesel engines* for the american market. They do not use american gasoline.

And the american diesel is known to be very dirty and sub par....

*those are the same diesel engines as for the european market. They test the enigne with american diesel. Not an american diesel engine
