boot the dvd
mount the gentoo partitions
enter the chroot
Code:
emerge --unmerge genkernel  gentoo-sources
rm /usr/src/linux/.config
emerge genkernel  gentoo-sources linux-firmware
genkernel --menuconfig all

when in menuconfig edit to:
Quote:

You can add
Code:

=sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-3.5.3

to your (chrooted) /etc/portage/package.keywords, and then do 'emerge --sync'.

This way you can try with the newest kernel available.

cc1: warnings being treated as errors

This is second time I see this on these forums, compilation runs with -Werror and errors out on warnings. Gotta be a bug.

thanks for your help.

added =sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-3.5.3
then
Code:
emerge --sync
emerge gentoo-sources
genkernel --kerneldir=/usr/src/linux-3.5.3-gentoo all
grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

now everything work fine.
