Compiling webkit-gtk with LTO

Today I've decided to give a try to gcc-4.7.1 with LTO. I thought that it's most beneficial for big packages, so I've decided to start with wibkit-gtk. Normally it compiles within 20 minutes, but with LTO... it's linking of libwebkitgtk takes 2.5 hours and my system with 8Gb used swap (sometimes). Total emerge time is >4h and still emerging (install phase)!!! Is this expected behaviour?

EDIT: Total emerge time 6h 18m. My PC: Core Quad CPU Q9550 @ 3.2GHz with 8Gb of memory.

It is a known issue, and rumours are around Intel is working to reduce this for gcc-4.8
