Doing a fresh install, I ran into an issue emerging libgcrypt. After some research, I found the problem was due to a 64 bit / 32 bit conflict. This seemed odd as I have been running amd64 on this system for ages. So I downloaded a new amd64 minimal install cd and tried again.

However, I'm still in the same spot. I boot with the installation media, do my mounts, chroot in and

So it appears I'm running a 64 bit kernel... so if this is the case, what's going on with the profiles?

Thanks for reading...

Please post the output the following command
Code:
ls -la /

(or ls -la /mnt/gentoo assuming, that the live system is mounted on /mnt/gentoo/).

I have the feeling, that you downloaded the wrong stage3 (x86 instead of amd64).

Good eye, and a good day to you, sir!
