Hey all,
Quick noob question...
Do you need to adjust your simlink for make.profile before or after emerging gcc-3.1???
And if I were to have emerged 3.1 first... would I have to unmerge and remege it after moving the symlink?
Not that I spent an entire night compiling 3.1 or nothing... before completly reading the gcc3 posts. Now why would I do a silly thing like that?

What install image did you use?
If it was 1.3a or 1.3b, then the make.profile is already symlinked correctly.
If it was 1.2, I think you need to unmerge gcc3, change the symlink, emerge rsync, emerge gcc, and finally emerge -e world. I have never upgraded from 1.2 to gcc 3.1, but I think that is the right process.
For gcc 3.1, do not set too high of an optimization setting (i.e. -march=athlon-xp -O3) that caused me alot of problems like kernel Oops. |
