On 10.0.5, 10.0.6, and 14.0.1:
.....
collect2: ld terminated with signal 9 [Killed]
make[5]: *** [libxul.so] Error 1
make[5]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/www-client/firefox-10.0.6/work/mozilla-esr10/obj-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/toolkit/library'
make[4]: *** [libs_tier_platform] Error 2
I've done revdep-rebuild, depclean. Anyone else seen this problem? |

| Do you have at least 4GB free RAM and 6GB disk space? |

| "Killed" is usually a sign of running out of RAM. I am not sure whether 4 GB RAM is really enough in all cases. Try to add some swap space, use MAKEOPTS=-j1 and USE=-pgo (maybe one of these measurements already suffices). |

Ant P, mv, you were both right.
I didn't have 4Gb of memory installed on the machine, only 2Gb. I shut down all applications and could install on console with the 2Gb.
That really sux though. I have to upgrade my machine just to run firefox. |

Or you can go with firefox-bin. As it is already built you don't need 4 gigs of ram. _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order. |

No. Many of my machines have only 512MB. Adding swap is sufficient in any case, MAKEOPTS=-j1 will then avoid some swapping. I gave up pgo soon, for compile time reasons, although it might work. |
