|
Hello, I've tryed out othere linux flavors (mandrake, and YDL) and didn't quite like them. I don't know what it was about them, it just didn't feel comfterable. I realy enjoyed the learning experiance i got last time i tryed to install gentoo, but I managed to fail quite dismaly when i tryed. Now that I've gotten a little more experiance, I wanted to try again. I still have all the instruction manuals from the last attemp, but I was woundering if any of you could point me in the right direction when it comes down to optomizing it for my computer during the install. I just went with the defualts the last time, and kind of hoped they were good for my computer.
I'm running a imac 15" 800mhz g4 with the geforce2mx (32mb). Any help is always nice. _________________ "We appologize for the inconvenince" |

to start with, you can check out
http://www.freehackers.org/gentoo/gccflags/
for your CFLAGS.
the main thing to customize beyond that is your USE flags.
before you install something, you can try the '-v' flag to portage (along with -p of course) to see what USE flags the package has. then you can build up the set of USE flags you want as you go. _________________ http://www.desertsol.com/~kevin/ppc |
