I want a beep!

Hello out there,

my first Gentoo-box is working as a router/firewall/server and is used without a monitor.
So i want it to beep after it is started up end right after shutting it down (when it's safe to turn it off).

I've emerged "beep" and want to use it with some options (for beeping 3 times) - this is working, but where do I have to place the command?
