| I'm noting that newer sites take forever to scroll when you first load them. You have to sit there and wait several seconds for something to finish before scrolling even works. What's causing this? |

Install firbug. Right-click. Inspect (with firebug).
Or if you're on Chrome, right-click and inspect element->network. _________________ What looks like a cat, flies like a bat, brays like a donkey, and plays like a monkey? |

It's usually not Java script but things like failbook/twatter buttons. It could be ads as well. _________________ There is, a not-born, a not-become, a not-made, a not-compounded. But even filtering all that crap out takes some time, even if it's done on a proxy server.
There ought to be a campaign against it. Somebody should talk 4CHAN or the like into screwing over everybody who inundates their pages with excessive ads, widgets, buttons, bottom-bars, popups, and similar crap.
The most recent annoyance I have noticed is an ad overlaying the page, kind of like a popup but apparently via some other mechanism, and you can't close it, but it goes away just about the time you're ready to say "fuck it" and go back.
Maybe somebody in here can write a script that will automatically count such things and then fire off an email to the webmaster in complaint. If that were widely disseminated, it might have an effect. _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.
