That's a bug in the latest Ximian patches as far as I can tell, so should be back in the next version or so

If there are more binary packages that need a place I still have room for them. For now there are binary packages at :

www.breakmygentoo.org/ebuild by Lin_Matt

And at http://www.update.uu.se/~adde/oo/ by Nylle

If you want me to host you binary package, just PM me :-)

Another hosted build:

http://tomchuk.com/stuff/openoffice-ximian-1.1.0.tbz2

**edit: use wget or right-click > save as. My server is sending tbz2 as text/plain **

CFLAGS: -march=athlon-mp -O3 -pipe
gcc: gcc-3.3.1-r4
glibc: glibc-2.3.2-r1
kernel: 2.4.22_pre2-gss
gnome: 2.4_p1-r2 (BMG)
gtk+: 2.2.4_p1-r1 (BMG)
openssl: 0.9.7c
... and everything else in a ~x86 system as of Oct 2

md5sum:
7a95cd3cdbb1e4d62a1fdcb460b21228 openoffice-ximian-1.1.0.tbz2

Not too sure if the athlon-mp and athlon-xp march's are compatible - someone with an athlon-xp give it a shot and tell us what happens.

Great that people start to provide their specs, this should it make easier to find the right version. Anyway would also be great to have the installed version of openssl included as 0.9.6 and 0.9.7 are not compatible with each other

hmm, one little question here. Why should i use LANGUAGE support? Will it change the interface language or do you need it for proper spellechecking?

I understand it is difficult to integrate an ebuild that complex as there has to be some dev taking care of it and the only one working on OpenOffice.org atm is pauldv, so I think he has already a lot to do with the "clean" versions

I know this might sound silly, but since you've spent so much time preparing these ebuilds, why don't you offer to join the OOo maitainence team, even if you're only maintaining the ooo-ximian ebuilds?

You know it makes sense. :)

Thanks suka!

Everything seemed to build fine.

The only problems that I have noticed so far on my machine...

1) When I select a menu item it turns white and I can't read the menu item any more. All the rest of the entries in the menu are black on grey. When the mouse rolls over an entry it turns white on grey and I can't read it.

2) I do not have entries in my gnome application menu. I restarted gnome but that didn't fix it. I am running 2.2.2-r1

I will add them by hand tonight when I get home from work.

Thanks again for the ebuild!!! :D

Yep, that's a known problem (which only few are having), look around in the forums I think someone else posted this problem in the thread to one of the older versions, bu I can't remember anymore if there was a solution for it...

Hmm, that's a strange one, can't imagine why this should happen..

Could you look into /usr/share/gnome/apps if there is a dir which is called OpenOffice.org and contains 4 .desktop files

I posted another binary compiled with :
Quote:

-march=pentium2

All the other specs are the same as the pentium3 package, and it's posted on http://breakmygentoo.net/ebuilds/

Enjoy!

bash-2.05b$ /usr/bin/oowriter
running openoffice.org setup...
setup failed.. abort
bash-2.05b$

Compiled fine, with l10n done correctly it seems, as the error message I get very politely says (in Swedish) that the application crashed whenever I try to start it. *Sigh*.

Athlon-XP running kernel 2.6.0-test6, OpenSSL 0.9.6k, gcc 3.2.3, glibc 2.3.2, gnome 2.4

Is your LANG variable correctly set (like explained in the first posting of this thread)?

Try to start it with

Code:
LANG="swedish" oowriter

hope this helps

Anyone made a binary using openssl 0.9.7?
Both Nylle's and Lin_Matt's use 0.9.6, and tomchuk didn't mention his openssl version.

I'm sorry, but it doesn't help me. I've tried both LANG=, LANGUAGE= with both "se" , "swedish" and "46"... LANG="sv_SE", did however work, I see now after trying all others... *Sigh*...

Well... It seems to work, so I'm happy ^^

Mine was compiled with OpenSLL 0.9.7c - I just changed the original post to reflect that.

Anyone know?

Though my ISP doesn't care if I run servers and they don't impose a cap, keep in mind that I'm hosting this from a 256kb up ADSL connection. So help yourself, but don't expect blazing speed and please only take it if you intend to use it (~75MB file).

Do a 'cd' into /usr/portage and unpack it from there. It should drop openoffice and the bitstream-vera fonts into the proper sub-directoris of /usr/portage/packages, including the links.

Here are the particulars of the build:
Code:

linux-2.4.22_pre2-gss
gcc-3.3.1-r4
glibc-2.3.2-r1
openssl-0.9.7c
gnome-2.4_p1-r2
gtk+-2.2.4_p1-r1

USE="gnome -kde"
CFLAGS="-march=i686 -O2 -pipe -maccumulate-outgoing-args -w"

Keeping in mind that ~/.sversionrc and ~/.openoffice might need to be tweaked / moved / removed , this package runs flawlessly on the Athlon-MP box where I built it and a PIII laptop.

That said, openoffice-ximian_i686.tar.bz2

I have put the binary from Naren here:

http://www.scintilla.utwente.nl/users/damen/gentoo/

It is build on ~x86 with gcc-3.3.1-r4

Have fun! Martijn

Hmm, although the hosting is no problem, installing gives me this:

Code:
damen@kim damen $ sudo emerge -k openoffice-ximian-1.1.0.tbz2
Password:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) app-office/openoffice-ximian-1.1.0 to /
!!! CATEGORY info missing from info chunk, aborting...
damen@kim damen $

Anybody who knows what my problem might be and how to solve it?

Tnx, Martijn

Man I am excited to get this ebuild working on my system, but to my dismay when I got home after work today I was presented with this error on my screen:

Code:
31 errors
dmake:  Error code 1, while making '../../unxlngi4.pro/misc/XSLTValidate_dummy.java'
---* TG_SLO.MK *---

ERROR: Error 65280 occurred while making /var/tmp/portage/openoffice-ximian-1.1.0/work/oo_1.1_src/filter/source/xsltvalidate

!!! ERROR: app-office/openoffice-ximian-1.1.0 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 472, Exitcode 1
!!! Build failed!

Anyone have any ideas on this one. I thought I might try and ease up on the cflags a bit, but before I start the compile again I would like your input.

These are my cflags ATM
Code:

CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fmove-all-movables -fprefetch-loop-arrays -funroll-loops"

and cxxflags are set at the same above with

Code:
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"

and

Code:
LANGUAGE="39" emerge openoffice-ximian-1.1.0.ebuild

but crashes on startup !

OK, having had troubles with a lot of openoffice builds, I decided to try one of the binary builds here.
Everything works fine here, but oocalc refuses. Really strange, I can open .doc files just fine, but as soon as I start oocalc, it doesn't do anything, except eat a lot of CPU.
