|

I can't seem to find the info I need to setup my printer. I have installed CUPS, but it comes back with Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:631. System Settings Printer Configuration returns "The service 'Printer Configuration' does not provide an interface 'KCModule' with keyword 'system-config-printer-kde/system-config-printer-kde.py'. The factory does not support creating components of the specified type.
I am at a loss to understand what this is trying to tell me. It mentions an error during the last KDE upgrade leaving an orphaned control module or that I might have an old third party module lying around. Since this is a fresh Gentoo install, I kinda doubt that part.
Anyone have any solutions/ideas?
~Mark
PS. If I put in the ip address:631 of the printer in place of localhost:631, it does take me to the admin browser interface, but obviously that doesn't help me get it installed. _________________ Thanks,

Hi mark2,
If you can't establish connection to the server, you've mightn't started cupsd or cups is not appropriately installed.
Did you followed the Gentoo printing guide? |

Thanks, ferreirafm. Following the guide did the trick. I had a copy printed out, but it is slightly different than the one in your link. At any rate, it worked.
