| Quote: | WASHINGTON — In order to secure his sweeping 2010 health care reforms, US President Barack Obama's staff oversaw an unusually close collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry, documents show.
Republicans in the House of Representatives have uncovered a trove of emails and other memos showing how the Obama administration coordinated its $150 million advertising campaign with major pharmaceutical companies.
Nearly $70 million was spent through two Super PACs -- political action committees -- organized in part by White House officials, including Jim Messina, Obama's former deputy chief of staff who is now managing his 2012 reelection campaign. |

You have to wonder how they would have rephrased "an unusually close collaboration" had it been a Republican. _________________ lolgov. 'cause where we're going, you don't have civil liberties.

These emails reveal that Obama made a closed-doors deal with Big Pharma to do away with portions of the bill intended to reduce the price of medication, in exchange for their support.
| Quote: | | After weeks of talks, drug industry lobbyists were growing nervous. To cut a deal with the White House on overhauling health care, they needed to be sure that President Obama would stop a proposal intended to bring down medicine prices. ... more |
They also manipulated AARP lobbyists somehow, which is also shown in that article, to inexplicably push Seniors to support Obamacare (which never made any sense, given that it would severely reduce Medicare benefits). The bill probably would have failed had this not taken place, and nobody can explain it. I asked my parents (AARP members) about it, and they said they had no idea, "but if AARP supports it, it can't be all bad":
| Quote: | ”Our Medicare program is going bankrupt, and our seniors need solutions. They don’t need political organizations selling them out to the White House. Obamacare cut more than $500 billion out of the Medicare program, and the AARP supports that….
“Now I know why they made a deal with the White House. As a physician I believe my former patients deserve answers from AARP on why they’re taking orders from the White House. This deserves closer public scrutiny.” |
