Why is Gentoo Portage Site Being Written in Node.js?

I just read this article about node.js http://teddziuba.com/2011/10/node-js-is-cancer.html. It seems reasonable. So my question is why is gentoo portage website being re-written in node.js when it's this bad?

Simple, it's not an official Gentoo project, so the owner, Mike, can do what he wants.
