| I just read this article about node.js http://teddziuba.com/2011/10/node-js-is-cancer.html. It seems reasonable. So my question is why is gentoo portage website being re-written in node.js when it's this bad? |

Simple, it's not an official Gentoo project, so the owner, Mike, can do what he wants.

lol...I hope not! From what I read it looks like a dumb down way to write a website. But then again, I find most of the top notch web developers only want to use javascript when they do not have any other choice. |
