| Quote: | A stuntman has landed safely after making the first wingsuit flight without a parachute.
Gary Connery, from Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, has already completed about 880 skydives and 450 base jumps.
The 42-year-old landed on an area containing 18,600 cardboard boxes after jumping from a helicopter at a height of 2,400ft (730m).
The entire flight, which saw Mr Connery accelerate to a top speed of about 80mph, took about 50 seconds.
During the flight, father-of-two Mr Connery dropped for three seconds before his suit "started to fly".
He used a landing strip of giant cardboard boxes, known as a box rig, covering about 350ft (100m) by 45ft (15m).
Mr Connery, who has worked on films including Die Another Day, Batman Begins and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, said performing stunts was "his life". |

| If he could fit a folding bicycle into the suit, he wouldn't need the boxes |

Seems easier to use a chute rather than hope to come across a random pile of boxes where you need to land. _________________ lolgov. 'cause where we're going, you don't have civil liberties.

But boxen are cheaper. | I really don't think they are, given the quantity and time/labor involved in preparing them. Especially if you miss. _________________ lolgov. 'cause where we're going, you don't have civil liberties.
