Weird mail error after replying to a topic

Instead of the usual "click here to go back to the topic" thing, I just got this instead:

Okay, so I'm not alone.

I get this too:

I got it several times today. When I hit the browser back button to return to the topic and reload, my post showed up despite having gotten that error.

As one might expect from this error message, the forums also do not seem to be sending email notification of replies.

I reported notageek's informative post above to call the attention of our illustrious, talented, and hard-working Admins to the issue, on the off chance they are not already virtually finished speedily resolving the problem.

It should be working again.

It seems that in the process of doing some minor housekeeping in the board configuration some bits that shall not be twiddled were in fact twiddled, thus releasing the fury of the mailer daemon into the world. Restoring their previous state appears to have returned the daemon to a proper state of quiescence.

It would have been fixed sooner, were there not so many interesting shops nestled down blind alleys.
